Upping sticks from jolly old London Town for the burnout paradise of The States, San Fran, to be precise, Philip Best and Sarah Froelich, aka Consumer Electronics, stake out a state-of-the-nation chaos space for yet another jaded union on the precipice.
Lovingly produced by the ineffable Russell Haswell and mastered by cutting engineer extraordinaire Matt Colton, Airless Space is solid hour of frayed electronics and paranoiac/oracular whispers, and arguably the fullest realisation of Consumer Electronics’ sound yet.
Although somewhat mellowed by the standards of 2015’s Dollhouse Songs, this LP goes to show that the duo’s invocations are yet still soaked in acid and other questionable substances.
